Every day, thousands of devotees travel to Shirdi to bow at the feet of Baba. However, as it is not possible for everyone to go to Shirdi, the footsteps of many devotees in the Pune region turn towards the Pratishirdi temple in Shirgaon, located in Maval taluka.
There is a route to Shirgaon from Somatane Phata on the Pune-Mumbai highway. This Pratishirdi temple is at a distance of approximately three kilometers. It was established in the year ۲۰۰۹ through the initiative of former Pune MLA Prakash Dhevale. The specialty of the temple is that not only is the architecture similar to the Shirdi temple, but more importantly, the entire atmosphere of this area is just like Shirdi. Upon entering the temple premises, one feels such a resemblance that it creates the illusion of standing in Shirdi itself. This temple was constructed in a period of just nine months.
Just like in Shirdi, this temple complex houses the Samadhi Mandir, the Ajana tree, Dwarkamai, and the Dhuni of Baba that burns continuously in front of it. The temple has a spacious assembly hall (Sabhamandap). The carvings on its walls are beautiful. There are photographs of Sai devotees on the walls of the assembly hall. One’s gaze remains fixed on the idol of Sai, seated on a white marble throne in the golden sanctum sanctorum in the front part of the assembly hall. This idol is just like the original idol in Shirdi. Apart from this, all religious programs are conducted here just like those held in Shirdi.
Another important structure in the temple premises is the grand Prasadalaya (dining hall). This building for the food charity has been built so grandly that it resembles a palace. Because of this, the building itself has become known as the Rajwada (Palace). On the ground floor of this three-story palace, one thousand devotees can partake in Prasad at the same time. Additionally, there is a facility for devotee accommodation (Bhakta Niwas). The entire temple premises are clean and tidy.
On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, hundreds of devotees from the Pune and Mumbai areas come here for Darshan. The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has started a ‘Darshan Bus’ for devotees and tourists. The Pratishirdi temple is also included among the tourist destinations shown by this bus. Festivals such as the Foundation Day, Guru Purnima, Ram Navami, and Dussehra are celebrated here. Aarti is performed in the temple at ٥ AM, ۱۲ PM, ٦ PM, and ۱۰ PM. Devotees can have Darshan of the deity from ٥ AM to ۱۰ PM.
This sacred temple stands as a testament to deep spiritual devotion, ancient architectural grandeur, and rich local cultural traditions.
The sanctum sanctorum houses the divine idol consecrated according to ancient Vedic traditions, surrounded by serene courtyards and traditional temple architecture.
