About Amaralingeswara Swamy Temple

In Amaralingeswara Swamy Temple the consort of Bhagvana Amareshwara swamyji is Goddess Bala Chamundika. Moreover, the lord Indra has installed an important sacred Sivalinga just at this location.

The sacred Sivalinga at this place is really tall or high that Archakas ascend an important pedestal area and greatly perform routine rituals and Abhisheka activities. Moreover, the top of Sivalinga has a very reddish blemish on it. According to mythology, this Sivalinga was really growing up in measurement and to prevent its high growth, an important nail is hit onto very top of this Linga. It is said that when that nail dug just into the Sivalinga then blood begun to leach form sacred Sivalinga. Even today, the stain could be found.

History

The renowned Chintapalli king, Vasireddy V. Naidu and Dharanikota has been considered excellent devotees of Lord Amaralingeswara. The Chintapalli king renovated as well as expanded this sacred temple. According to Hindu mythology, during the war against the rebellion of that time, the king had to select massacre of all Chenchus and due to it, he lost psychological peace of his mind, which could be regain only when he visited Amaravati. In the year of 1796, he moved his palace from the region of Chintapalli to local area Amaravati.  After that, he devoted greatly his time, life and revenues to constructing various temples for Bhagvana Shiva. The king also renovated the renowned Amareswaraswamy temple that engaged total nine archakas for routine prayer of Bhagvana. He also arranged all the requirements of livelihood such as 12 acres of legal land to each section.

Architecture

The renowned Amaralingeswara Swamy Temple has richness of inscriptions on all just like Kota chief’s temple of Amaravati as well as Krishandearaya, emperor of Vijayanagara. Moreover, on an important pillar at Mukhamatapa, consort of Prolinayadu, a minister of Ketaraja, the Kota king, has also left an important inscription. The architecture of the temple is unique in all aspects.

Weather and Best Time to Visit

The weather of the area is range from 28 degree Celsius to 32 degree Celsius. Hence, visitors or pilgrims can visit the temple throughout the year. However, the best time to visit Amararama is during festival seasons such as Mahashivaratri and Navaratri in the Indian month of Magha Dasami.
